WILEY KNUCKLES
Wiley (image above) is now above 65 years of age. He began work for Pacolet when he was 16 years of age. He has worked for almost 50 years with only about five years of work elsewhere.

During these fifty years he has worked as an opening room man in the card room, where he began his work. At that time he worked 11 hours and 20 minutes per day—the pay was 60c per day. Other jobs were machinist helper, fireman of boiler, janitor, blacksmith, scrubber, and bottle man in canteen, and operator of canteen at the colored village.

Wiley has been married twice; his wife is Essie Knuckles, who serves as cook at Victor Inn. There are 6 living children.
